WINTER COMES WITH A SURPRISE!
ANNOUNCEMENT :
Readers. You heard it here first..... I know I have been going on and on about this new record "My Last Night On Division" which DEFINITELY is still coming in the new year, but, as it turns out, I had a lot of material that I needed to get out of me before I was fully ready to record that album.
And so this is the official announcement!
I have recorded a very dreamy and beautiful seven-song acoustic album. It will be available VERY VERY soon. The title remains a secret for now. The entire record was recorded in a small Ballard apartment that belongs to Seattle's one and only Bradley Zeffren who produced both "Roll Me On" and "Drive Away".
The record is mixed and awaiting mastering. Stay tuned, stay in touch.
Sincerely,
Kristen Ward
Autumn in the Emerald City
Readers. And so it has been another fantastic summer of shows, festivals, road trips, electric guitars, and even the addition of a vintage Airstream trailer. The days are getting shorter and the high overhead summer sun is starting to slant into a sideways orange. The mornings and nights have a chill and you can see your breath in the air if you manage to stay up late enough into the Seattle nights. Another autumn in Seattle's musician packed Ballard neighborhood. This is my neighborhood. And I am facing down what had morphed into the recording of two albums set for a release in 2010. Though we had hoped to get back into the studio in the Spring of this year, money has been tight...as I'm sure you all know. But now there's enough bread now and the rock must go on. And so, afternoons are spent in my small third-floor apartment, with the dog, lots and lots of coffee, my trusty computer, a pen and a notebook and a 1968 vintage Gibson. I am putting the finishing touches on what I think are the bones of two great albums to come. And of course the second I think I have "the song" another better one is born. But it's time now. Recording. Winter. Seattle. Rain....it's time. So please stay tuned and in touch...and Happy Autumn.

SPRING TIME in the EMERALD CITY
Back in the Emerald City, after 2 months song-writing in Mexico. Lots happening... my band and I are starting pre-production for my 3rd full length album. We hope to record late spring of 2009. Many of you already know of my 2008 release, titled "Drive Away". The record features Mike McCready of Pearl Jam and many other incredible Seattle musicians. What many of you may not know, is the record was funded by pre-sales and donations made by fans online. I am hoping to start another fund-raiser of this sort in the near future in order to finance the recording of my third album. If you would like to be part of this project or want to know more, feel free to join my mailing list on the "CONTACT" page. In addition to living in the all-consuming world of music and band promotion, I have spent some time with my second big love...painting. I will be having an art show May 9th in Ballard, Wa. It will be at a friends space on Old Ballard Ave. Lots of drinks, music, and yes, all of my latest paintings. AND EVERYONE IS INVITED! This once again brings me to the genius of my mailing list. Join it! And you will stay informed. Put the show on your calendar. Come hang out with me and my friends and look, buy, listen, whatever.
